Sitting high upon stately stairs in the SoNo section of Norwalk, this old school town history museum had been struggling for years. When I visited it, on a Saturday afternoon, we had to fight for parking and through crowds on the streets to get there.
Then, once inside, we were alone. The glitz and glamour of SoNo – a far cry of where it was just 15 years ago – have overtaken such traditional stalwarts as the Norwalk Museum. Funding dried up, visitors went to the newer aquarium or restaurant row nearby… and now it’s closed.
Worse, my visit came at the end of a long day and it was rushed and my report is a bit dodgy. You should read it anyway, out of respect for the dead.
