Completing Ashford, Enfield, Manchester, Stafford, & Vernon
November 2016 – June 2017
Because this is how my brain works, I feel the need to treat this nonsense like a real project that I’m managing. I’ll skip the Six Sigma and Lean stuff though. (As much as I kinda sorta love their rigor.) Instead, I’ll just lay out what lies ahead in over the next few months. (It all started here.)
Which looks daunting. But I like daunting. Will I actually “complete” one of these towns by my target date of 5/31? I don’t know. Each town has its own limiting factor(s) that will hinder completion.
Note: these totals are potential totals which include some things that may no longer exist – or – may not yet exist. Those would be some serious hurdles to overcome. Disregarding the obvious limiter (time), here is what I see as the difficulties in each town:
Ashford: The Tremko-Stebbins House Museum is nowhere near completion. The Ashford Academy Museum isn’t really a museum. Ashford is fairly far away.
Enfield: I need to purchase a kayak to reach King’s Island. The town’s 3 museums do not open until May.
Manchester: The Woodbridge Farmstead Museum isn’t completed yet. The Oak Grove Nature Center isn’t an actual thing. Parable Brewing and Labyrinth Brewing won’t be open by June.
Stafford: The Gasoline Alley Automotive Museum probably doesn’t exist anymore.
Vernon: The Fox Hill Tower is seemingly never open to climb to the top.
But I’m pressing ahead. I’m going to contact the right folks to try to get to the places that will be difficult. I’m not going to be insane about all of the trailed properties; trying to walk every inch. No one wants that.
I’ve tried my best to reformat every page associated with each town as best I can. Early CTMQ posts have tiny pictures and clunky code, but I’ve been doing my best to update each and every one.
So watch out Ashford, Enfield, Manchester, Stafford, and Vernon – here I come!
