Wilton’s Town Trails

Wilton’s Town Trails

It never ceases to amaze me how many trailed properties these tony lower Fairfield County towns have. The land down here is not cheap, and NIMBYism is unparalleled. Yet, many towns including Wilton, have a robust catalog of properties to hike. Not only is that really cool, one would assume that several trails skirt the backyards of massive manor houses and mansions. Not the ideal wilderness experience of course, but interesting all the same.

Of course, the flipside to the above is that there are lots of people in towns like Wilton with lots of money. That means that if those people are amenable to giving that money – and their property – to organizations that protect and maintain open spaces, we get more open spaces to enjoy. Whatever the reason, I’m exciting to poke around the wealthy woods of Wilton.
