Adirondack 46ers
September 4, 2004 –

I’ve absolutely loved the short times I’ve spent in the Adirondacks. Lake Placid is one of my favorite secret towns in America and the hugely expansive park is inspiring for a reason.

The love of my life upset at the lack of views on Mt. Marcy

And it’s inspired another peak-bagging list – the 46 4,000 foot peaks of the ADK’s. This list and completer club has been around forever. In fact, it’s been around so long that four of the peaks were later determined to be less than 4,000 feet, but because we peak-baggers are a romantic lot, they remain required climbs.

While another mountain that is 4,000 feet… is not. The 42 peaks that are over 4,000 feet also appear on the Northeast 111 list.

Several peaks here have no official trails to their summits and many require a longer hike in than, say, the Catskills or Whites require. Good times.
