Naugatuck River Greenway

Naugatuck River Greenway, 44 Miles

11 Towns in The Valley

It’s currently January 1st, 2025 and very little of this ambitious planned trail has been actualized. And, frustratingly, it will apparently never be one continuous trail, even if everything comes to fruition.

But I needed an intro page, so here you are.

The Naugatuck River Greenway is an officially designated Connecticut State Greenway, consisting of the open and green spaces along the Naugatuck River.

When and if it’s finished, it will follow the river for 44 miles through all 11 Naugatuck River communities: Litchfield, Harwinton, Thomaston, Watertown, Waterbury, Naugatuck, Beacon Falls, Seymour, Ansonia, and Derby. Work to connect existing sections is underway with parks, waterfront promenades, overlooks, and river access all figuring into plans.

South to North

Section 1: Housatonic River, Shelton to Bridge Street, Ansonia
Section 2 and beyond TBD
