Norbrook Farm Falls

No Creek Norbrook to Speak Of…
Norbrook Farm Falls, Colebrook

September 2024

This is one of those pages I’m spending five minutes putting together because:

A) I made the effort to check out these “falls,” and,
B) I care about you, Dear Reader, and don’t want you doing the same

I went to the Norbrook Farm Brewery to hike. And hike I did! The trails here are pretty great and very well maintained. The map is orienteering-level quality and all the trails are blazed and signed. Well, except one.

The very one these “falls” tumble alongside. I thought the lack of trail name was a little odd, especially in these woods where there are about 40 named trails between the hiking paths and the mountain bike runs. As I began to trudge up the unnamed path, I immediately thought, “perhaps this isn’t named because it’s straight up and no one wants be here walking up this.”

It doesn’t look like it, but this is unpleasantly steep

But the map noted “Falls.” And I seek out every waterfall in the state. So I peered into the reentrant to my left and there was barely a trickle, despite some decent rain the day prior. Now, I’m sure there are times when there is a decent volume of water cascading down this steep hillside. It might even be mildly impressive. But I can promise you I won’t be bothering with this unnamed trail here ever again to find out.

There are just too many better things to do out here at the brewery’s property.
