Hartland Land Trust Trails

Hartland Land Trust
Hartland

Not that counties mean anything in Connecticut, but pick someone up off the street in Hartford and drop them in the middle of the woods in Hartland and I’ll bet they wouldn’t believe that they are still in Hartford County. Especially after walking hours through thick forests in an effort to survive.

Beaver Pond at Mill District Preserve

Over 70% of Hartland is wooded and more or less protected. There’s a lot of woods up there, but the town’s land trust only manages a few properties. They help out with the other entities that manage trails in town, so it’s not like they’re bored. But with so much of the land state-owned, it’s tough to get in a little land trust action I suppose.
