Perfection Screw, Wolcott
Perfection Screw was bought by another company in April 2019 and is no longer.

There’s no need for this on the esteemed pages of CTMQ. Yet, here we are. Perfection Screw and Rivet (whose signage only said “Perfection Screw”) was founded in 1952 and produced thousands of different cold headed parts for a wide range of hundreds of customers. They were acquired by Crescent Manufacturing of Burlington, CT and the Wolcott mainstay closed for good. Oh well. Let’s remember one of the best named companies in Connecticut that saw the brilliance in siting itself on, yup, Route 69. Because of course they did.
So pour some out, as you can no longer get a perfect screw in Wolcott.

March 3, 2026 at 5:05 pmI worked at Persco during my college breaks in the 70’s. My mother was a secretary (yes – they were called secretaries back then) and did the office paperwork. I worked in the shop on the threaders and also in the shipping room and also unloaded the wire coils into the warehouse (the big building on the north side that was attached to the main building). Ray and Charlie Valerio were the owners and Charlie’s son Steven all oversaw the management and customer service.
I was there when they installed AC in the shop, which was a bad idea. All of the headers, slotters, threaders and the parts washer cranked out a LOT of heat. They would fire up the AC in the morning and by noon, the shop was up to over 90 degrees. During lunch, they would shut down the machines and the AC, open up the windows and turn on the fans. The shop would cool down to around mid-80’s. After lunch, the fans were shut off, windows closed and the AC turned back on. By 2:00, it was over 95 degrees and the AC shut off, windows opened again and fans turned back on for the rest of the day.
