Stonington Land Trust Intro

Stonington Land Trust
Stonington

Let’s face it, people don’t often go to Stonington for the sole purpose of hiking. As arguably Connecticut’s hottest town for tourists, most visitors would rather fight the throngs for downtown parking and walk around its immaculate sidewalks near the shoreline.

And that’s fine. However, there are lots of trails around town – most of them not along the coast and certainly not near the traffic-choked roads. The town’s land trust, just incorporated in only 2007, is fighting the noble and uphill battle of protecting pockets of undeveloped land. (The Avalonia Land Conservancy has been doing the same for longer.) And I love that… so I will go to Stonington for the sole purpose of hiking.
