Newington’s Town Trails

Newington’s Town Trails

No one ever thinks about Newington. Not even me, even though I’m often as close as two minutes away from it when I am in my own town of West Hartford. Well, that used to be me, until the town voted for one Mr. Stephen Woods for mayor in 2012. Although he has an extra ‘s’ on his name, I still feel a kinship with him.

Young’s Farm

When I wrote about the town’s “claim to fame;” that of having the “smallest waterfall in the state,” the town’s Democrats followed me on Twitter and we had some fun, back when Twitter was Twitter and not owned by a lunatic. Anyway, those falls are part of the town’s online hiking/trail pages. Granted, some of the “hikes” are roadside treks across town, but hey, it’s Newington. That’s how they do.

My Newington Town Hikes

The town has updated its trails guide and eliminated the ones the deserved to be eliminated, noted by as asterisk below.

Cedar Mountain/Balf Nature Preserve
Newington Greenway Trail*
Robert Stanley Nature Trail
Indian Hill Trail*
Mill Brook Trail*
Mill Pond Trail
Young’s Farm/Rock Hole Trails
