Land Trust Trails

Land Trust Me, You Don’t Want to Do This
Connecticut’s Land Trusts & Their Trails

For several years, this introductory paragraph used to say some stuff about how this page was ridiculous because no way would I ever even consider hiking all of the trails on all of our various land trusts’ properties. I just didn’t know how to dream big back then.

Damian at Talcott Ravine, a Northern CT Land Trust property in Vernon, spring 2017

There are a lot of land trusts in Connecticut and the range of how decent or great they are is pretty large. Some have great hiking trails, some don’t. Some have great websites, most don’t. Some have printed guides, most don’t.

By the way, there are a lot of land trust-like organizations like the Hockanum River Watershed Association and others that operate like land trusts, aren’t land trusts, but don’t fit into my other categories. Eh, whatareyougonnado.

New Hartford Land Trust has Jones Mountain trail, really nice combo if woods road and trails plus stone bridges, view of Ski Sundown and overlook of “downtown” New Hartford. 2.4 mi, hilly, loop.

    Thanks, Celeste!

When I put together the New Hartford Town Trails page, I included Jones Mountain there. I know the land trust lists it and links a map, but I think the land is the town’s.
